I run a one man shop so time is not on my side! A lot of times I have to think outside the box when it comes to time management. One of my time management tools is calling Mr Diagnostic. When you have several vehicles to work on a day and want to give them your full attention, isn’t it wise to give the diagnostic to someone that has the factory equipment. He can get it done right and in a reasonable amount of time. I am not saying I cannot handle diagnostics. Anyone in the business that knows me knows I am very capable of doing this work myself. The problem is when you diagnose something you really shouldn’t be interrupted in the middle of it. It is not so much of a distraction to be pulled away from a brake job or mechanical job. So while he is diagnosing I am doing that brake job or tune up or answering the phone and do not have to worry where I left off. I also get the repair job when the diagnostic is done. This makes me more efficient and my customers happy. When that happens it increases my bottom line.
